Stockton Names Thomas Graduate Assistant

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team added Destiny Thomas to its staff as the team's graduate assistant, head coach Lisa Stockton announced Thursday.
Thomas comes to New Orleans after playing four seasons at Clemson, earning her bachelor's degree in sports communication with a minor in athletic leadership in May of 2020. The Pelham, Georgia, native returned as a graduate student in the 2020-21 season and is set to finish her master's degree in athletic leadership in August of 2021.
"Destiny has a great reputation with her staff at Clemson," Stockton said. "She has high energy and we are excited for her to join the program."
Thomas helped Clemson to the 2018-19 NCAA Tournament, where the Tigers defeated South Dakota in the first round before falling to Mississippi State in the second. Clemson also made an appearance in the WNIT in the 2020-21 season.
Off the court, Thomas was selected to the Tiger Leadership Academy as the women's basketball representative. The program selected 20 student-athletes out of more than 150 to participate in leadership activities, self-reflection and service projects to gain personal development skills.
She also served as a content and social media strategist for Clemson University Relations, developing content for the weekly 'Ask a Tiger' Instagram series. Thomas also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and took part in the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Forum in 2018.
Thomas worked the Clemson youth basketball camps in 2018 and 2019 and also went back home to volunteer at the Pelham High School summer basketball camps in 2018.
Thomas will pursue a degree in sport studies at Tulane. She will take the place of Ayoleka Sodade, who spent the past two seasons as the Green Wave's graduate assistant. Sodade will finish her degree in kinesiology health and wellness next month.
"We appreciate Leks and the work she did for our program over the past two seasons," Stockton said.
