Five Track and Field Athletes Qualify for NCAA Regionals

NEW ORLEANS - Five members of the Tulane University track and field team have qualified to compete in the 2021 NCAA East Regional which will take place May 27-29 in Jacksonville, Fla.
The qualifiers are Maya Harewood in the 400m dash, Kyah Loyd in the 100m hurdles, Nastja Modic in the pole vault, Tri Malej in the triple jump, and Hannah Patrick in the javelin.
Harewood completed an outstanding regular season in the 400m with a qualifying time of 53.99 just a hair shy of her personal best time of 53.67 from the 2019 season. She also competed in the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay for the Green Wave this season.
Loyd enjoyed a breakthrough outdoor campaign in the 100m hurdles by recording a qualifying time of 13.53. Loyd also holds the spot for second place all-time in the Tulane record book at 13.45 in the event.
Modic earned top marks in the pole vault this spring and qualified with her early season mark of 4.03m at the Jaguar Open. Modic has been a consistent performer in the pole vault during the outdoor season earning points for the Green Wave.
Tri Malej is currently ranked 11th in the nation in the triple jump as part of a landmark season in the event. A two-time American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week during the 2021 outdoor campaign, Malej's mark of 13.28 earned a spot in regionals.
The Green Wave's lone thrower to qualify, Patrick did so just last weekend in Tampa, Fla., at the AAC Outdoor Championship with a distance of 45.13m in Tampa.
