May 24, 2021 | Men's Tennis
LAKE NONA, Fla. - Tulane University men's tennis fifth-year senior Ewan Moore and senior Hamish Stewart suffered a straight-set defeat in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Doubles Championship on Monday evening at the USTA National Campus.
Ranked 21st nationally, Moore and Stewart saw a slight change to the draw prior to first serve after originally being scheduled to face a tandem representing Oklahoma State University. Instead, the Green Wave duo was matched up against No. 5-8 seed and ninth-ranked Constantin Frantzen and Sven Lah of Baylor University in the round of 32. The Bears earned a 6-1 win in the first set, but Moore and Stewart battled back to trade blows in a tough second set that advanced to a 6-6 tiebreaker. There, Baylor pulled ahead by a 7-4 advantage to close out the straight-set victory.
Moore and Stewart conclude the spring with a 13-7 overall record, including a 6-2 mark against nationally-ranked opponents.
