May 29, 2021 | Track & Field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The Tulane University track and field team wrapped the NCAA East Regional competition and its outdoor season on Saturday.
Junior Tri Malej placed sixteenth with a mark of 12.97m in the triple jump to end a dynamic season. Malej was a two-time American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week this outdoor season and earned a personal and Tulane all-time record for the outdoor triple jump with a mark of 13.28m.
"This has been a great season for Malej," director of cross country and track and field Eric Peterson said. "Coming up a little short today does not take anything away from the progress Malej has made this season. Malej still has two more years of eligibility and a very bright future. Malej will learn a lot from this experience and most certainly will continue to improve."
The Green Wave had an eventful trip to Jacksonville for the NCAA East Regional meet to close up their outdoor season. On Thursday, junior Nastja Modic earned a new personal best mark of 4.17m in the pole vault to earn a third all-time mark in the Tulane record book.
Junior Kyah Loyd ran 13.60 in the 100m hurdles. Two seniors completed their collegiate careers with the Green Wave on a high note. Senior Hannah Patrick posted an impactful 41.60m in the javelin and then senior, Maya Harewood finished with a strong performance in the 400m earning a time of 55.74.
