Tulane Volleyball Falls at Florida State, 3-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Tulane University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (23-25, 13-25, 13-25) setback to host Florida State in the 2021 Four Points Tallahassee Seminole Volleyball Invitational Thursday night at Tully Gym.Â
Senior Kayla Dinkins and freshman Michelle Urquhart led the Green Wave with 10 kills apiece. Freshman Chelsea Harvey paced Tulane with 33 assists. Senior Lexie Douglas tallied a team-best eight digs.Â
Tulane opened up a 7-3 lead, but Florida State responded by winning eight of the next 12 points to even the score at 11. The two teams than traded points with no squad leading by more than two. Florida State would then go on to open up a 24-20. Tulane fought back to trim FSU's lead to 24-23, but that was as close as the Green Wave would get for the remainder of the frame.Â
The Green Wave fell behind early 13-10Â in the second set and were unable to get any closer for the remainder of the frame, as the Seminoles won six straight points to open up a 19-10 lead. FSU would go on to win the set 25-13.
In third set, Tulane remained within striking distance of FSU in the early going as it trailed by just two points (9-7). The Seminoles then put the match out of reach as they opened up a 19-11 advantage. FSU captured the set with a 25-13 victory to claim the match.Â
The Green Wave will be back in action on Thursday afternoon, as it takes on Samford at 2Â p.m. at Tully Gym.
