Tulane Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 14 Stanford in the ITA Kickoff
Jan 30, 2022 | Men's Tennis
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Tulane University men's tennis team dropped its first match of season as it fell to No. 14 Stanford 4-0 on Sunday at the ITA Kickoff. With the loss the Green Wave drop to 2-1 on the season.
"We had a solid start in doubles today and put ourselves in a decent position to get the doubles point," head coach Mark Booras said. "After we lost that tiebreaker, we let the wind out of our sails a bit to start singles in a few holes. From there we were just trying to stop the bleeding in a few tough spots to keep us in it."
The duo of Billy Suarez and Rafael de Alba picked up the lone win on the day for the Green Wave as they defeated the 31st-ranked pairing of Max Basing and Timothy Sah 6-3. Fynn Kuenkler and Luc Hoeijmans battled to the very end of their match in doubles competition, but Tulane would ultimately go on to drop the doubles point. The Cardinal claimed the first three matchups in singles play to win the match.
"We'll need to bounce back real fast for another tough one tomorrow morning against Louisville," Booras said.
Tulane will return to action to face Louisville Monday at 9 a.m. CT. Fans can watch the match by CLICKING HERE or follow along with live scoring by CLICKING HERE.
