Tulane Continues Play at the ITA Southern Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tulane University men's tennis returned to action in singles and doubles on Friday at the ITA Southern Regional Championships. The Green Wave earned three victories and will send both of its doubles teams on to the doubles main draw round of 32.
Junior Alex Bancila continued his strong play in singles action by earning another win in the qualifying draw to advance to the round of 16. Bancila defeated Vanja Dobrnjac from Jacksonville State in two sets (6-2, 6-2) to pick up his second victory of the tournament before falling in a hard-fought two-set match in the round of 16.
Doubles competition began on Friday for the Green Wave as well with Tulane fielding two teams in the main draw round of 64. Both teams advanced to the round of 32 as the team of Fynn Kuenkler and Bancila moved on thanks to a withdrawal while the duo of Rafael de Alba and Luka Petrovic defeated Kristofer Johnson and Alexandre Verlaguet from Alabama State 8-1.
Kuenkler and Petrovic will begin their singles competition on Saturday in the main draw round of 32. Tulane's two doubles teams will also continue play in the main draw round of 32 on Saturday.
