
Kuenkler Advances to Main Draw Round of 16 at the ITA Southern Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Junior Fynn Kuenkler earned another singles victory for the Tulane University men's tennis team on Saturday to advance to the main draw round of 16 at the ITA Southern Regional Championships.
Kuenkler stepped up to the challenge of a difficult battle in the round of 32 against Lachlan Brain from North Alabama. After losing the first set of the match, Kuenkler responded to win the second and force a third and decisive set. The Bielefeld, Germany, product carried the momentum from that second set into the third to win the match and advance to the singles main draw round of 16.
In doubles, both Green Wave teams faced stiff competition in the round of 32 on Saturday. Kuenkler paired up with Alex Bancila in a tough battle that reached a tiebreak before the Tulane duo came up short. Rafael de Alba and Luka Petrovic played a tough match against a pair from Mississippi State before falling in the round of 32.
Bancila also picked a win on Saturday over Joao Ferreira from Alabama in two sets (6-3, 6-0) in the singles consolation bracket.
Kuenkler will take the court on Sunday with a chance to advance to the singles main draw quarterfinals while Bancila and Petrovic will compete in the singles consolation bracket.
