Green Wave Welcomes Crimson Tide to Uptown Thursday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball will host the Alabama Crimson Tide inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Thursday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Tide is set for 6 p.m.

This marks the 17th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Tide. Tulane trails the series against Alabama 5-11 after splitting two matchups last season. The Wave defeated Alabama 69-66 in the first meeting last year in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on November 14, 2021. In the latest game between Tulane and the Tide, Alabama won in New Orleans 81-77 on March 21, 2022, in the second round of the WNIT. The top returner for the Wave this season, Dynah Jones, averaged 11 points and three rebounds in the two games against the Tide last year. The last time the Green Wave defeated the Crimson Tide in Uptown was March 16, 2016, in the first round of the WNIT 53-52.
Entering her 29th year at the helm of the Green Wave, head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 5-5 record against Alabama. Tulane holds a 3-2 advantage at home over the Tide during Stockton's tenure in Uptown.

Tulane is coming off a 72-46 victory over Grambling State in the 2022-23 season opener on Monday. Marta Galic led the attack for the Green Wave scoring a game-high 19 points and pulling in 10 rebounds for her second career double-double. As a team, Tulane made 13 three-pointers in an impressive shooting effort connecting at a 56.5 percent clip from beyond the arc and 53.1 percent from the floor.

Alabama is coming off a 98-51 victory over Alabama A&M in its season opener on Monday. Three players scored in double figures for the Tide in the win with guard Brittany Davis leading the team with 26 points including 7-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. The Crimson Tide return all five starters and seven total players from last season. Those seven returners accounted for 95 percent of Alabama's points from a year ago.

Following the contest against the Tide, Tulane will travel to Mobile, Alabama, for its first road test of the young season against South Alabama. The Green Wave and the Jaguars will face off on Thursday, November 17.
