Tulane Swimming and Diving Makes History On Day One of AAC Championships

DALLAS – Tulane swimming and diving competed in the first day of The American Athletic Conference championship Wednesday night and made program history with its first team relay victory as members of AAC inside Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium in Dallas.

"We had a lot of pride in tonight's swims," head coach Leah Stancil said. "Our divers' had a great start with 4 consolation finalists. The 800 freestyle relay was a school record and our 200 medley relay was a season-best. I couldn't be more pleased with tonight's results."

The Green Wave made program history with its first team relay victory as members of The American, taking a thrilling 800 freestyle relay to kick off the meet. Iza Pelka, Lilly Byrne, Sam Krew and Noa Heron touched the wall in 7:11.44 for the Green Wave win. With their time, they also set a new school record.
Â
Tulane also made the podium in the 200-freestyle relay. Danielle Titus, Christiana Williams, Eleanor McMeen and Riley Hendrix claimed bronze with a season-best time of 1:41.87.

On the other side of the aquatics center, Tulane had four divers compete in the 3-meter finals. Paige McKenzie finished 10th (266.75), Kate Lipsey was right behind her in 11th (255.20), Anna Behrman finished 14th (226.15) and Gabby Hebert took 15th (222.75).

Tulane will be back in action tomorrow as they compete on the second day of the AAC Championships.
