
Tulane Women’s Basketball Welcomes SMU For Final Home Game Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball (18-7, 9-4) will aim to keep the winning streak alive as it hosts SMU (12-10, 6-4) Wednesday. The Green Wave will go for its eighth-straight victory and its seventh consecutive against American Athletic Conference competition as it welcomes the Mustangs into Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse for a 3 p.m. tipoff. Â

The Green Wave's matchup with the Mustangs will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. This will be 40th all-time meeting between Tulane and SMU with the Wave leading the series 24-15. SMU took the first matchup this season in Dallas 67-62 in overtime on January 15. The Green Wave holds a 12-6 advantage over the Mustangs in Uptown. The last time Tulane beat SMU at home came on Feb. 26, 2018, by a score of 52-46.

Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 14.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and fifth in scoring. Dynah Jones joins Ursin in the top-10 in scoring in the league with 12.6 points per contest and is averaging a team-high 13.4 points in league games. Krystal Freeman follows with 12.0 points and 7.7 boards while Arsula rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.8 points and 4.2 assists per contest.

The Green Wave is 11-2 at home so far this season including 4-2 in league competition. Tulane is averaging 76.0 points while allowing only 62.8 points per game to its opponents in Uptown. The Wave controls the glass at home averaging 47.9 boards and outrebounding opponents by 12.3 rebounds per game.

In its last time out, Tulane won its seventh-straight contest and its sixth consecutive AAC game as defeated it Houston 76-72 at home on Sunday to sweep the season series. All five starters scored in double figures for the Green Wave with Arsula Clark and Dynah Jones leading the way with 15 points each. Moon Ursin chipped in 13 while Mia Heide and Krystal Freeman followed with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

SMU is coming off a road win over Tulsa, 75-42, on Saturday, Feb. 19. The trio of Savannah Wilkinson, Kayla White and Sydne Wiggins each average double-digits in scoring to lead the Mustangs. Wilkinson is averaging a double-double with 14.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Wilkinson leads the AAC in double-doubles, ranks second in the league in rebounds per game and third in points per game. SMU is 5-4 on the road this season averaging 62.7 points on 42.4 percent shooting from the field while allowing opponents to score 59.6 points per game on 35.3 percent shooting.

Following its matchup with the Mustangs, the Green Wave will hit the road to Philadelphia to face the Temple Owls on Saturday, February 26. Tipoff between Tulane and the Owls is set for 1 p.m. CT.
