
Men's Basketball Faces Temple in Quarterfinals of AAC Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Tulane University men's basketball team returns to action Friday as it takes on Temple in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas inside Dickies Arena.

STARTING FIVE
1. The Tulane University men's basketball enters the AAC Championship as the fifth seed after finishing with a 10-8 record in conference play.
2. Jalen Cook was named to the All-AAC First Team. Jaylen Forbes was tabbed Second Team All-AAC and Kevin Cross was named the league's Most Improved Player and was a Third Team All-AACÂ honoree.
3. Tulane earned its most league wins since joining the American in 2014-15.
4. The Green Wave was picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll and finished fifth, earning a bye in the tournament for the first time.
5. Tulane has made six tournament appearances and holds a 3-6 record. The Green Wave went 1-1 in its last trip to the tournament in 2021 defeating Tulsa in the first round 77-70, before losing to Houston 52-77 in the quarterfinals.
TULANE BY THE NUMBERS
253 - Â Tulane has made at least one 3-point field goal in 253 consecutive games. The last time the Green Wave failed to do so came on Jan. 16, 2014 at home against Louisiana Tech when they went 0-for-14 from outside.
50.4 - Forward Kevin Cross is first in the American Athletic Conference in field goal percentage connecting at a 50.4 percent rate from the floor.
36.0 - Jaylen Forbes' 36.0 minutes per game lead the AAC.
20 - Tulane has faced 20 opponents this season which came into their meeting with the Green Wave with a record of .500 or better.
18.0 - Jalen Cook is averaging 18.0 points per game, a figure that ranks second in the AAC.
10 - The Green Wave picked up their 10th league win of the year on Mar. 3 vs. UCF which is more its most conference wins since joining the AAC.
6 – Tulane ranks sixth in the nation in the fewest turnovers.
2 - Tulane ranks second in the American in the assist-turnover ratio (1.27).
WITH A WIN OVER TEMPLE…
• Tulane would advance to the AAC semifinals tournament for the second time.
• Tulane would defeat Temple for the first time in the AAC tournament.
• Head coach Ron Hunter would collect his second win ever in the AAC tournament.
THE OPPONENT - TEMPLE
• Temples No. 4 seed is their highest seed since being No. 3 in 2019.
• The teams split their regular-season series, with Temple taking the most recent matchup 75-70.
• Temple committed 21 turnovers in its Feb. 27th meeting with Tulane.
• Damian Dunn, who has scored in double figures a team-high 21 times, leads the Owls in scoring 15.2 ppg.
• Jeremiah Williams, who has missed five of the last six games (shoulder), remains questionable.
