Mar 11, 2022 | Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's tennis team will aim to pick up its third consecutive win as it hosts South Florida on Saturday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center. The Green Wave will enter the match against the Bulls with a 6-3 record after it swept past Middle Tennessee 7-0 on Thursday.
Tulane trails the all-time series against USF 4-5 including a three-match losing streak against the Bulls. The Wave hold a 2-1 advantage in home matches against USF. The last time Tulane defeated the Bulls came on February 19, 2017, in New Orleans when the Green Wave won 4-3. This year the Wave is 5-1 in matches played at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans.
The Green Wave is led on the doubles courts by the pairing of Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell. The duo holds an 8-1 record this season with wins in their last three matches. In singles action, Tulane is paced by Yelamanchili and Russell each with a 7-1 record. Sophomore Cora Barber is also off to a strong start on the singles courts as she is a perfect 4-0 to start the year.
Following its match with the Bulls, the Green Wave will face another AAC foe as SMU visit New Orleans on Tuesday, March 15. The match between Tulane and the Mustangs is set for 2 p.m. CT at City Park Tennis Center.
