
Beach Volleyball Grabs Two Wins on Day One of Tiger Beach Challenge

BATON ROUGE, LA — Tulane beach volleyball got off to a hot start at the Tiger Beach Challenge with two victories on day one of the tournament hosted by LSU.
Tulane matched up with the Texas A&M-Kingsville first this morning, sweeping the Javelina's 5-0.
From the No. 1 position, Kendall Peters and Maddie Speicher notched a quick match win 21-8, 21-15.

Ashton Mares and Sara Hall paired up on court two for the next Tulane point. They would put away the Javelina's duo of Ahrens and Van Brunt 21-14, 21-12.

Samantha Mehlman and Lara Torruella dominated as the third pair taking their match 21-14, 21-10.

Haley Gibson and Savka Popovic paired up on court four winning 21-17, 21-11.
Josie Cole and Sam Green teamed up on court five as they defeated TAMUK's Merlino and Gragasin 21-11, 21-15 to get things rolling for the Wave.
In the afternoon, Tulane defeated Southern Miss in a close 3-2 victory.
No. 2 pair Mehlman and Torruella got it started for Tulane, defeating Southern Miss's Hurnikova and Chudzik 21-15, 21-19.

Tulane's fifth pair of Popovic and Gibson would go head to toe with Southern Miss winning by a tough 21-19, 21-19.

The deciding point would come down to Tulane's top pair of Peters and Speicher. The duo dropped the first set 19-21 before rallying from behind to take the second set 21-18 and seal the deal in the third with a tough 17-15 victory.
