
Tulane Beach Volleyball Competes in the Panther Beach Battle

MIAMI – Tulane beach volleyball (20-12) finished the Panther Beach Battle hosted by Florida International University with a 1-3 record in Miami on Saturday afternoon.

Tulane dropped their first two matches of the tournament to No. 15 FIU and No. 10 FAU on Friday.

The Wave put up a battle versus the Panthers going 3-2. On court five Haley Gibson and Savka Popovic won in a well-fought 21-19, 21-13 match.

Court four made up of Josie Cole and Samantha Green held their own as well, winning 22-20, 21-14 to put the Wave up 2-1 on the Panthers. The top three pairs were unable to pull of the victory and dropped the match 3-2.

In their Friday afternoon match, the Wave would fall 5-0 to No. 10 FAU.

On Saturday Morning Tulane would dominate FMU 5-0.

Gibson and Popovic would dominate again on court four winning 21-2, 21-2 to get the first Tulane point. Emily Heintzelman and Sophia Gammarino would pair up on court five and win a dominant 21-7, 21-8.

Sara Hall and Samantha Mehlman would take the point on court one winning 21-8, 21-5. Followed by Cole and Green on court three winning 21-9, 21-11.

Court two would secure the sweep with a two-set victory.
Â
Tulane would get swept by No. 19 Stetson to finish the tournament.

The Wave returns to action next Saturday in their final home match of the season.
