Beach Volleyball Gets the Sweep on Senior Day

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane beach volleyball (22-12) finished out the regular season with a doubleheader sweep over Southern Mississippi.

Tulane also honored their seniors prior to the matches.

Haley Gibson and Savka Popovic got things going for the Green Wave with the first team point of the day winning 21-17, 21-3 on court five.

Josie Cole and Samantha Green were right behind with a 21-18, 21-16 win on court four.

To secure the first win Sara Hall and Samantha Mehlman won in a dominant 21-11, 21-18 victory on court three.

Ashton Mares and Lara Torruella grabbed the fourth team point of the morning, helping Tulane get the 4-1 victory.

In the afternoon the Green Wave pulled off the sweep with a 5-0 victory.

Courts four and five finished simultaneously getting two well-fought points for the Wave.

Hall and Mehlman had the most dominant victory of the day winning 21-9. 21-11 in the afternoon to secure the Tulane win with the third team point.

Getting the final win of the day was Maddie Speicher and Kendall Peters with the win on court one 21-19, 21-15.

Tulane will head to Huntsville, Alabama on Thursday to compete in the CCSA Conference tournament.
