Tulane Women’s Sailing Ready to Race for ICSA National Championship
Apr 22, 2022 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing women's team will compete for the ICSA Women's Team Race National Championship this weekend, April 23-24, in Cranston, Rhode Island. The regatta will be hosted by Brown University with support from NEISA at the Edgewood Yacht Club.
"The ladies are pumped up for this weekend," head coach Charles Higgins said. "This is the inaugural Women's Team Race National Championship, and the absolute best of the best are here. With such a select field we know every race is going to be hard fought, but we relish being under that kind of pressure."
The Green Wave will race among 12 teams, 11 of which were in the final top-20 fall rankings by Sailing World including Tulane, for the championship title. The Wave will be competing in Group 2 along with overall No. 1 seed Yale, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, and South Florida. Tulane enters the regatta as the No. 10 seed among the 12 teams.
"It's been great watching us progress so far as a team, and I'm excited to see us get after it tomorrow," Higgins said.
Teams will report at 8:30 a.m. CT Saturday and Sunday to prepare for racing. The races will launch from the Edgewood Yacht Club on the waters of the Providence River.
