Tulane Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 50 Florida Atlantic
Apr 8, 2022 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – The No. 64 Tulane University men's tennis team dropped its home match to No. 50 Florida Atlantic 4-1 on Friday afternoon. After falling behind 2-0, the Green Wave cut the deficit to 2-1 but ultimately failed to pull off any comeback as the Owls claimed the final two points of the match.
With the loss, Tulane drops to 7-13 overall on the season and 4-7 in home matches this year.
The Wave held an advantage on two of the three doubles courts as Charlie Barry and Benji Jacobson led 2-1 early on court one and Fynn Kuenkler and Luka Petrovic jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Tulane was unable to hold off the Owls, however, as Florida Atlantic came back to win on court one before clinching the doubles point on court three.
The first point in singles action went to the Owls to push the Green Wave's deficit to 2-0. On court four Alex Bancila put Tulane on the board with a two-set win 6-4, 6-4. Bancila's win was not enough to change the momentum on the courts though as Florida Atlantic picked up wins on courts one and two to secure the overall match victory.
Up next, the Green Wave will host No. 31 SMU in New Orleans on Sunday, April 10. The match between Tulane and the Mustangs is set for 1 p.m. CT at City Park Tennis Center.
