Tulane Sailing Set to Compete in SEISA Team Race Championships

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing COED and women's teams will host the SEISA Team Race Championships Saturday on the waters of Lake Pontchartrain. The Green Wave COED team will be competing in the SEISA Open Team Race Championship while the Wave women's crew will race in the SEISA Women's Team Race Championship.
Tulane's COED and women's teams are coming off first and second place finishes, respectively, in the Garner-Tullis Team Race last weekend in New Orleans. The COED crew posted a 19-1 record while the women's team finished 16-4 in the regatta.
"We're looking forward to coming out tomorrow and having a strong showing," head coach Charles Higgins said. "As always the goal is to win every race, and the team is prepared as they can be."
In the SEISA Open Team Race Championship, Tulane will race against three teams from the state of Texas. The Green Wave will take the waters against teams from Baylor, North Texas, and Texas. The starting lineup for the Tulane COED team: Meanwhile, in the SEISA Women's Team Race Championship, the Wave will square off against the University of Texas for three rounds of racing. The starting lineup for the Wave women's team: Racing will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday from New Orleans Yacht Club for the SEISA Women's Team Race. The SEISA Open Team Race will follow and is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. All races will be sailed on Lake Pontchartrain.
Following the action this weekend, the Green Wave sailing team will travel to Annapolis, Maryland, to race in the Navy Spring Regatta on April 16-17.
