Dear Next Wave,
If you are reading this letter and have decided to commit to Tulane university, you have made a decision that will have you set for life. As a student-athlete at Tulane University, I have been blessed to travel across the country to compete, meet people I now call my family, and learn at a rigorous level that will lead to nothing but success for the future. Attending Tulane has given me the option to travel the world and play overseas.
Attending Tulane will set you for life, but you will have to work hard for it. I have attended Tulane for 5 years and each year was an absolute grind. My first year at Tulane, I barely touched the court. I averaged 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds. That year, everything was completely different for me, a new school, a new team, and a new position, but I knew at the D1 level things were not going to be given to me. With that being said, I came into my sophomore year feeling like an entirely different person on the court and off. I went from barely seeing the floor to becoming the most improved player in the American conference. I was able to do this with hard work, my coaches, and the help and encouragement of my teammates. My first year at Tulane has taught me how to really work if/when you want something, and I thank Tulane for that because it is something I can carry for the rest of my life.
From an academic standpoint, a Tulane degree carries an incredible amount of weight and whenever I decide to end my basketball career, I know there will be a well-paying job waiting for me due to the two degrees I earned at Tulane. The Tulane degree is absolutely worth the work you will put in to earn it. When I was deciding which college to attend, I was given some advice that I will share with you, "Why not work hard for 4 years and make life easy?" This advice has resonated with me for years and I hope it inspires you to work hard while you are here.
Enjoy the best 4 years of your life!
