NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's women's basketball roster has filled out for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign with the addition of six signees through the transfer portal. Head coach Ashley Langford has announced the six additions with the group composed of two sophomores, two juniors, and two redshirt seniors. The six signees are Makayla Carter (Nevada), Nataliyah Gray (Mississippi State), Khadee Hession (Georgetown), Aizhanique Mayo (DePaul), Asha Sra (Charleston Southern), and Edina Strausz (Davidson).
Makayla Carter is a 6-2 forward from Tucson, Arizona, who comes to Uptown after a freshman season at Nevada. In her opening collegiate campaign with the Wolf Pack, Carter averaged 3.6 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game across 30 contests. She delivered a career-best 14 points against San Diego State on February 14, and she closed the regular season with her first double-digit rebounding effort of 10 boards against Utah State on March 3. At Mountain View High School, Carter earned many awards including First-Team All-Conference as a freshman and sophomore alongside Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior.
"Kayla is a high-energy player who consistently makes winning plays. She is a relentless competitor with a strong rebounding presence, and her versatility creates matchup problems on both ends of the floor," said Langford.
Nataliyah Gray is a 6-3 forward from Houston, Texas, making her way to Tulane after spending her freshman season with Mississippi State. Gray appeared in 17 contests with the Bulldogs last season, averaging 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. She collected career highs of 15 points and seven rebounds against Mississippi Valley State on November 9. At Alief Taylor High School, Gray averaged 22.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 1.9 steals, and 1.2 assists per game across her four years. As a senior, she posted a scoring average of 26.0 while earning First-Team All-Region and All-District honors.
"Tally brings tremendous energy and competitiveness. She impacts the game on the glass and creates matchup challenges on the offensive end," said Langford.
Khadee Hession is a 5-9 guard from Miami, Florida. She joins the Green Wave after spending the last two seasons with Georgetown where she played in 58 games with 39 starts. Across two seasons with the Hoyas, Hession scored 396 points at an average of 6.8 per game. She shot 32.9 percent from the floor and 32.0 percent from three while averaging 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Hession swiped 96 total steals. As a freshman in 2024-25, Hession started all 29 games en route to BIG EAST All-Freshman Team recognition after averaging 8.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. As a sophomore last season, she averaged 5.6 points per game across 29 contests with 10 starts.
"Khadee is an experienced guard who can score at all three levels. Defensively, she is disruptive and possesses excellent instincts," said Langford.
Aizhanique Mayo is a 5-9 guard who spent last season as a redshirt junior at DePaul. Mayo is a native of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and owns over 500 points across three seasons of action. After redshirting as a freshman, Mayo saw action in over 50 games across two seasons at Xavier. She was tabbed to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team in 2023-24 after leading the Musketeers in three-pointers made (38) while posting 202 points. She led Xavier in made threes again in 2024-25 with 53, and she dropped a career-high 27 points in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament against DePaul. Mayo spent last season with DePaul and saw action in 21 games, delivering a pair of 11-point performances with the Blue Demons.
"Nique is a high-level shooter who will help stretch the floor offensively. Her experience playing significant minutes in the Big East has prepared her to compete at a high level every night," said Langford.
Asha Sra is a 5-9 guard from Fresno, California. She comes to Tulane as a redshirt senior after spending last season with Charleston Southern and the three years prior at Grand Canyon. Sra played 27 games with 25 starts last season for the Buccaneers, leading the Big South in assists (121) and assists per game (4.7) during the regular season. She also averaged 9.3 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per contest. She recorded three double-doubles and scored in double figures 13 times with a career-best 20 points against College of Charleston. Sra redshirted as a freshman at Grand Canyon in 2023-24 and played in 52 games over the following two seasons. She averaged 1.1 points and 0.9 assists with the Antelopes before transferring to Charleston Southern.
"Asha is a proven winner with exceptional leadership qualities. Her elite passing ability and perimeter shooting will be valuable additions to our team," said Langford.
Edina Strausz is a 6-3 forward from Budapest, Hungary. She makes her way to New Orleans after two seasons at Davidson where she played in 30 total contests, averaging 4.9 points and 2.2 rebounds. She played in just nine games as a freshman in 2024-25, scoring 10 points with nine boards. Taking a step forward as a sophomore, Strausz appeared in 32 games this past season with nine starts, averaging 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds. She delivered a career-high 17 points on three separate occasions, and she has been efficient scoring down low with a career shooting clip of 58.0 percent. Strausz has served as a team captain for the U17 and U18 Hungarian Women's National Teams (2022, 2023).
"Edina is a highly skilled forward whose scoring and passing ability will make an immediate impact. Coming from a successful program, she understands what it takes to compete for championships," said Langford.
The six newcomers fill out a Green Wave roster that returns five players from last season's squad, headlined by American All-Newcomer Team member Kanija Daniel. She will be a senior in 2026-27 alongside Jayda Brown. Sadie Shores returns as a junior, and the rising sophomore duo of Shiloh Kimpson and Madison Gordon round out the returners. Also joining the team are freshmen Ja'Kyah Smith and Kennedy Simpson.
