Tulane Hosts Wichita State for AAC Clash Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball (10-6, 0-3) will look to earn its first American Athletic Conference victory of the season as it hosts Wichita State (11-5, 1-2) Wednesday night. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Shockers is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

This marks the 11th all-time meeting between Tulane and Wichita State with the series tied 5-5. The Green Wave and the Shockers split their two meetings last season with each team winning at home. Tulane won 67-52 at home in New Orleans and dropped the contest on the road 83-84 in overtime in Wichita, Kansas.
In its last time out, Tulane dropped its first AAC road contest on Sunday at East Carolina 53-63. Marta Galic led the Green Wave offensively scoring 18 points and matching a career-high five made three-pointers. She also pulled down 10 rebounds to notch her fourth double-double of the season.
Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Green Wave this season. Galic leads the team with 13.8 points per contest. Dynah Jones follows with 12.7 points per game while Kyren Whittington posts 11.6 points per game. Galic leads the AAC and ranks seventh nationally in three-pointers per game with 3.19.
Tulane ranks second in the league in assists per game (17.0) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.04). Rachel Hakes leads the league in assists (86) and assists per game (5.4).
Wichita State enters the matchup with an 11-5 overall record and a 1-2 mark in league play following a 46-49 loss at home to South Florida on Saturday. The Shockers are averaging 68.7 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting this season. Wichita State ranks second the AAC in defensive rebounding (28.6) and rebound margin (9.5). The Shockers are third in the league in total rebounding (41.75). Three players average double figures in scoring for the Shockers. Junior DJ McCarty leads the way with 12.8 points per game and rates fourth in the AAC in assists with 57.
Following the matchup with the Shockers, the Green Wave will hit the road for the Sunshine State for a meeting against South Florida on Saturday. Tipoff between Tulane and the Bulls is set for 6 p.m. CT.
