Green Wave Welcomes Golden Hurricane for Saturday Showdown

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball (12-7, 2-4) will go for their second consecutive American Athletic Conference victory as it hosts Tulsa (15-3, 5-0) on Saturday. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Golden Hurricane is set to tipoff at 2 p.m. in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

This marks the 36th all-time meeting between Tulane and Tulsa with the Green Wave leading the series 26-9. Tulane defeated Tulsa in both meetings last season and has won the last six matchups against the Golden Hurricane. The Wave holds a 13-3 record at home against Tulsa including an eight-game win streak in Uptown.

In its last time out, Tulane rode a 20-point third quarter to earn its first road conference win of the season defeating UCF 64-50 on Tuesday. Three players scored double figures for the Green Wave in the win. Kyren Whittington led the way with 15 points followed by Marta Galic with 13 and Dynah Jones with 11.

Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Green Wave this season. Galic leads the team with 13.6 points per contest. Jones follows with 12.3 points per game while Whittington posts 11.7 points per game. Galic is second the AAC and ranks 14th nationally in three-pointers per game with 2.95.

Tulsa enters the matchup with an 15-3 overall record and an undefeated 5-0 mark in league play. The Golden Hurricane is coming off a 69-57 victory at Temple on Tuesday. The Golden Hurricane lead the AAC in scoring averaging 74.7 points per game. Tulsa also leads the league and ranks second nationally with 10.2 three pointers per game. Four players average double figures in scoring for Tulsa: Temira Poindexter (15.5), Maya Mayberry (11.9), Delanie Crawford (11.5), Maddie Bittle (10.9). Poindexter leads the AAC in blocks (31) and blocks per game (1.72).

Following the matchup with the Golden Hurricane, the Green Wave will host Temple on Wednesday in New Orleans. Tipoff between Tulane and the Owls is set for 6 p.m. inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
