Tulane Hosts Temple in Uptown Wednesday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball (13-7, 3-4) will host the Temple Owls (7-11, 2-4) Wednesday night as it looks to earn its third consecutive American Athletic Conference victory. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Owls is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

This marks the 15th all-time meeting between Tulane and Temple with the Green Wave leading the series 8-6. Tulane defeated Temple 71-56 in Philadelphia in the lone matchup last season to extend its current win streak against the Owls to seven. The Wave holds a 5-2 record at home against Temple including the last four matchups in Uptown.

In its last time out, Tulane knocked off Tulsa 77-72 at home on Saturday. Four players scored in double figures for the Green Wave led by Marta Galic with 19 points along with six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kyren Whittington posted 17 points while Dynah Jones and Anijah Grant added 14 and 10, respectively. Rachel Hakes led the Wave in rebounds with eight and added 10 assists to no turnovers.

Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Green Wave this season. Galic leads the team with 13.9 points per contest. Jones follows with 12.4 points per game while Whittington posts 12.0 points per game. Galic is second the AAC and ranks 17th nationally in three-pointers per game with 2.90.

Tulane ranks second in the league in assists per game (16.5) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.02). Hakes leads the league in assists (106) and assists per game (5.3).

Temple enters the matchup with an 7-11 overall record and an 2-4 mark in league play after losing 53-64 at Memphis on Saturday. The Owls are eight in the AAC in scoring with 64.1 points per game. Temple is last in the league in scoring defense allowing 67.3 points per contest. Three players average double figures in scoring for Temple led by Aleah Nelson with 14.9. Nelson also leads the Owls in assists, threes, and minutes.

Following the matchup with the Owls, the Green Wave will visit the Houston Cougars on Sunday. Tipoff between Tulane and Houston is set for 1 p.m. on ESPNU.
