
No. 22 Bowling Begins The 2023-24 Season On Saturday At The SWIBC Tournament

New Orleans – The No. 22 ranked Tulane University bowling team is set to begin the 2023-24 season at the SWIBC Tournament from Oct. 7-8 in Fort Worth, Texas. The tournament is being hosted by West Texas A&M University at City View Lanes starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The first day of competition, Oct. 7, begins with games 1-5 starting at 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the Baker four-game matches going from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. The tournament on Saturday will consist of five (5) games of team play and three (3) four-game Baker matches
On the second and final day of the tournament, team games will be played starting at 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The tournament on Sunday will consist of seven (7) team games. Teams will draw for starting lane assignment.
If a tie for the tournament winner exists at the conclusion of the tournament, one Baker game will be bowled between the tied teams to determine the tournament champion.
In cooperation with the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (SWIBC), scholarship money (if available) and a trophy will be given to the team champion of each division.
This year's Tulane roster features six returners in Morgan Gitlitz, Yarelis Alvarez, Sofiia Druchyna, Katharina Mente, Mia Stolakis, Cassidy Williams plus four newcomers in Juanelyz Solla, Emma Fetterman, Kristen Derr and Linnea Holcomb.
For the completed 2022-23 season, Morgan Gitlitz led the team with 7,992 total pins. Amelia Vasquez had the highest average on the squad at 195.8, while Mia Stolakis recorded the highest individual performance with her 266 against UMES (10/15). Tulane sported an overall 71-51 record on the campaign. The program also finished the season ranked No. 22 nationally.
Next, the program returns home to host the Colonial Lanes Classic from Oct. 13-15 in Harahan at Colonial Lanes. Tulane plays in a total of 10 regular season tournaments this season. The regular season finishes for the Green Wave with the Conference USA Bowling League Championships from March 21-23 at a yet to be announced location. The NCAA Championship Regionals will be played starting on April 8 at a site that has yet to be announced. The NCAA Championships are being compete starting on April 14 in Detroit, Michigan.
