BOCA RATON, FL - Quarterback Michael Pratt became Tulane's all-time passing yardage leader as he led the Green Wave to a 24-8 road win over Florida Atlantic Saturday at FAU Stadium.
The Green Wave came into the game ranked 17th in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll, while checking in at 24th in the College Football Playoff's ranking.
Pratt went 21-of-28 on the day with 252 yards and three touchdowns in the commanding win. Chris Brazzell II led the receiving unit with seven receptions for 103 yards, including one 38-yard reception and one nine-yard touchdown catch at the opening of the second quarter. Tight end Chris Carter also added two scores for the Wave, as he finished second in receiving with three receptions for 29 yards. The defense held the Owls to only one score as it sacked FAU five times, with Darius Hodges recording two. DJ Douglas recorded the lone interception of the game in the fourth quarter.
Tulane was on the board first following a nine-yard touchdown reception by Chris Carter Jr. at the five minute mark of the first quarter to mark his first touchdown of the year. Brazzell furthered the lead on Tulane's next offensive drive, opening the second quarter with a touchdown.
The Owls put up an offensive drive halfway through the second quarter that would take them to the red zone, but Tulane's defense brought it to a halt on the two-yard line to force a turnover on downs and a first-half shutout.
Mid-way through the third quarter, Pratt found Yulkeith Brown for a 37-yard completion to the five-yard line. The pass made Pratt Tulane's all-time passing yardage leader, as he finished the game with 9,239 career passing yards. It also set up a scoring play as Carter added his second touchdown of the day to cap the 11-play, 55-yard drive to go up 21-0.
On the next offensive drive, Valentino Ambrosio drilled a 20-yard field goal to bring the score to 24-0.
The Owls scored the final touchdown of the day, and tacked on a two-point conversion, but their next drive proved unsuccessful after it ended with an interception by Tulane's DJ Douglas.
Tulane will head back to New Orleans to host its final game of the season at home against UTSA at 2:30 next Friday. The Green Wave will honor its seniors in a ceremony prior to kickoff.
