
Women’s Basketball Fights Back To Defeat Mercer, 64-58

Macon, Georgia – Hannah Pratt and Marta Galic both scored 15 points to lead the Tulane women's basketball team (3-1) to a comeback 64-58 victory over Mercer (1-4) on Sunday at Hawkins Arena.
Pratt and Galic also both picked up eight rebounds in the victory. Kyren Whittington also scored in double figures with 11 points. She also tallied five rebounds and two steals. Irina Parau also reached double figures with 13 points. She also had four rebounds. Amira Mabry tallied eight points, five rebounds and two steals. Kaylah Rainey recorded five assists and two steals. Chiarra Grattini tallied two points and three rebounds. Joy Madison-Key, in her first game of the season, picked up an assist and a steal.
The Bears were led by Mackenzie Johnson's 12 points. Deja Williams also scored in double figures with 11 points.
The game featured eight tied scores and 11 lead changes. Tulane only shot 31.6 percent from the field (18-for-57), 15 percent from three-point range (3-for-20), but were 25-for-32 at the line (78.1). The Green Wave totaled 42 rebounds, 11 assists and eight steals.
Mercer shot 38.2 percent from the field (21-for-55). 33.3 percent from three-point range (9-for-27) and 87.5 percent from the line (7-for-8). The Bears recorded 32 rebounds, 12 assists and five steals.
Tulane trailed after the first quarter by a 11-9 margin and were also behind at halftime by a 28-25 score. The team rallied to close to within one after three quarters, 44-43, and kept momentum going with a 21-15 lead in the fourth to win this one 64-58.
Next, Tulane travels and spends the Thanksgiving Break at the Cayman Islands Classic from Nov. 24-25. The Green Wave face off with Virginia on Friday at 10 a.m. and then take on No. 9 nationally Virginia Tech at 10 a.m. on Saturday with both games being held at John Gray Gymnasium.

With the win, Tulane evened their all-time record with Mercer to 1-1…This was the first meeting between the schools since 1983...Marta Galic and Kyren Whittington have scored in double figures in all four games…The Green Wave are now 8-2 all-time against schools from the Southern Conference.
