
Women’s Indoor Track & Field Ranked Regionally by the USTFCCCA for the Fourth Straight Week

NEW ORLEANS – Following five strong weekends to start the season, including a great showing in Nashville last time out at the Music City Challenge, the Tulane women's indoor track & field program is ranked No. 11 in the South Central Region by the USTFCCCA, the organization announced on Monday.
Tulane received a total of 70.13 points in the poll. The Green Wave are one of 11 women's teams from the state of Louisiana that are ranked regionally. Among the 11, only LSU (No. 4) has a higher regional ranking than Tulane. The Green Wave are also one of three from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) that are ranked regionally in the South Central Regional along with Houston (No. 9) and SMU (No. 14). The Green Wave fell one spot the poll this week.
The women's team has six athletes that are ranked among the top 10 in the South Central Region in Mackenzie Callahan – 7th – mile, the 4x400m Relay Team – 8th, the Distance Medley Relay Team – 8th, Kara Steele – 9th – triple jump, Kristen O'Handley – 4th – pentathlon and Margot Temines – 8th – pentathlon.
The women's program also has 16 athletes that are ranked among the top 10 in the AAC in an event in Kristen O'Handley – 8th – 400m, Victoria Robinson – 2nd – 800m, Janae Dean – 3rd – 800m, Sophia McNerney – 10th – 800m, Mackenzie Callahan – 2nd – mile, 4x400m relay – 5th, distance medley relay – 4th, Kristen O'Handley – 10th – high jump, Alexandra Potts – 6th – pole vault, Kristina Leggas – 9th – pole vault, Megan Fitzgerald – 10th – pole vault - Kara Steele – 5th – triple jump, Maren Butler – 2nd – shot put, Kristen O'Handley – 2nd – pentathlon, Margot Temines – 3rd – pentathlon and Patricija Ozolina – 8th – pentathlon.
The poll was voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences around the country.
Next, the program travels to Baton Rouge for the LSU Twilight on Feb. 17 hosted by LSU.
