Lifetime, College and Season-Bests Fall at AAC Championships

DALLAS, TX – The Tulane Green Wave wrapped up its second day of competition at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday.

In the preliminary portion of the day, the Green Wave turned in several impressive individual performances. Olcaytu Hatipoglu swam a lifetime best in the 50 free (24.18 seconds), as did Kate Amar in the 200 IM (2:02.21), a mark that now stands sixth in Tulane's all-time Top Ten.Â

Elena Gingras (4:59.98) recorded a college-best time in the 500 free and three others notched season-bests, all in the 50 free: Riley Hendrix (23.80, .01 off her lifetime best), Reese Dunkenberger (24.42) and Liv Davison (24.05).

In the evening session, Sydney Mullin shaved four seconds off her 500 free prelim time to come home 18th in 4:54.66. Gingras added another team point when she took 24th in that event in 5:01.15.

Amar (2:03.98) and Gianna Spremullo (2:04.22) collected a total of 23 points with their 15th and 16th-place performances, respectively, in the 200 IM.

Grace Dale posted seven points in the 50 Free final with her 18th-place finish in 23.63.

Tulane scored 40 points in the 200 free relay when Dale, Hendrix, Eleanor McMeen and Davison finished ninth in 1:33.59.

In the team standings, Tulane stands ninth with 168 points.

The championship continues Friday with the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay.
