Crimson Tide Too Much for Green Wave

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Adelaide Lavery and Charlotte Russell recorded singles victories on Saturday for Tulane, but host Alabama proved too strong for the visitors and posted a 5-2 defeat at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.

Lavery knocked off nationally-ranked (114th) Petra Sedlackova 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, while Russell won 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 10-6 over UA's Anna Parkhomenko at No. 4.

The Crimson Tide took the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches 6-1 to clinch the doubles point and followed that with singles victories at 1, 3, 5 and 6. The No. 1 doubles match, featuring the Olive and Blue's Russell and Lahari Yelamanchili, went unfinished.

Alabama improved to 5-2 overall, while the Green Wave dropped to 3-4.Â

Tulane will return home next weekend to host LSU on Friday (2 p.m.) and Louisiana on Sunday (1 p.m.).
