Tulane Hosts East Carolina for Senior Day on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball (16-11, 6-8) will go for its fourth straight American Athletic Conference win as it hosts East Carolina (20-8, 11-4) on Saturday afternoon. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Pirates is set to tipoff at 2 p.m. CT in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
Tulane will honor graduate transfer Rachel Hakes and fifth year senior Dynah Jones in a pregame ceremony beginning at 1:45 p.m.

This marks the 31st all-time meeting between Tulane and ECU with the Green Wave leading the series 20-10. The Pirates won the previous matchup this season 63-53 in Greenville, North Carolina, on January 4. The last time Tulane defeated ECU came last season on January 29, 2022, when the Green Wave won 75-55 in New Orleans. The Wave holds a 9-4 record at home against the Pirates including wins in the last five meetings in Uptown.
In its last time out, Tulane won its third consecutive game on Saturday defeating Cincinnati on the road 65-54. The win was also Head Coach Lisa Stockton's 577th victory at Tulane which surpassed former Louisiana Tech head coach Leon Barmore for the most wins by a women's college basketball coach in the state of Louisiana. Jones led the Green Wave in scoring in the contest with 19 points to go with four rebounds a pair of assists.
Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Green Wave this season. Marta Galic leads the team with 12.5 points per contest. Jones follows with 12.4 points per game while Kyren Whittington posts 11.6 points per contest. Galic is third the AAC and ranks 48th nationally in three-pointers made this season with 66.
Paced by Hakes who leads the conference in assists per game with 5.0, Tulane ranks third as a team in the league in assists per game at 15.2 and assist-to-turnover ratio at 0.95.
East Carolina enters the matchup second in the conference and riding a six-game win streak after defeating Houston 88-83 at home Wednesday. The Pirates lead the conference in scoring defense (55.9), turnovers forced per game (25.0) and turnover margin (+8.32). ECU ranks second in the league in three-point defense (26.8%), steals, (13.5), and scoring margin (+7.9). Danae McNeal leads the Pirates and the league in scoring with 18.0 points per game. McNeal also leads the team and the conference in steals with 3.07 per game.
Following the matchup with the Pirates, the Green Wave will finish the regular season on the road against Memphis next Wednesday. Tipoff between Tulane and the Tigers is set for 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
