Green Wave Hits the Road for Pair of Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Sailing will send both its coed and women's crews on the road this weekend to compete in two separate regattas. The Green Wave coed team be in Charleston, South Carolina, for the Bob Bavier Open Team Race hosted by College of Charleston while the women's squad will compete at the SMC Women's Team Race hosted by St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City, Maryland.

Tulane finished fourth out of 10 teams last spring in the Bob Bavier Team Race. This weekend the Wave race against eight other teams including Coast Guard, College of Charleston, Florida State, Miami, Navy, Stanford, South Florida, and Vermont. The regatta will be held on the Cooper Rivers on Saturday and Sunday with races beginning at 9 a.m. CT.

Last spring the Green Wave finished sixth out of 11 teams at the SMC Women's Team Race. On Saturday and Sunday Tulane will hit the waters of the St. Mary's River competing against teams from Brown, College of Charleston, Cornell, Harvard, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Old Dominion, Penn, St. Mary's, Stanford, South Florida, and Yale. Racing will begin at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday.

Up next, the Green Wave will be back on the road for the Navy Spring Women's Fleet Race and the SMC Open Team Race March 11-12.
