Green Wave Finishes Second in Bob Bavier Open Team Race, Lands Seventh in St. Mary’s Women’s Team Race
Mar 12, 2023 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Sailing picked up another second-place finish early in the season landing in second at the Bob Bavier Open Team Race in Charleston, South Carolina, Sunday. Meanwhile, at the St. Mary's Women's Team Race the Wave finished seventh after the absence of wind in St. Mary's, Maryland, limited the regatta to one day of racing.
The Green Wave finished the Bob Bavier Open Team Race by recording a 4-3 record on Sunday to land 14-5 overall in the regatta. Skippers Cameron Giblin, Asher Zittrer, Thad Lettsome, and Peter Foley paired with crews Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez, Gillian Perrell, Alex Makoid, Kit Stoll, and Brady Starck to pick up wins over Florida State, Miami, Stanford, and Coast Guard on the final day of racing. Tulane finished two wins behind Coast Guard in first place overall.
Due to a lack of consistent wind, there was no racing at the St. Mary's Women's Team Race on Sunday. The Green Wave officially finished seventh out of the 12 teams in the regatta with a 5-6 record.
Up next, the Green Wave will be back on the road for a pair of regattas in Maryland March 18-19. Tulane will compete in the SMC Open Team Race hosted by St. Mary's College and the Navy Spring Women's Fleet Race hosted by Navy on Saturday and Sunday.
