
Tulane Back on the Road for Two Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Sailing will be back on the road this weekend for a pair of regattas in Maryland on Saturday and Sunday. The Green Wave coed team compete in the St. Mary's Open Team Race hosted by St. Mary's College while the Wave women's squad will take part in the Navy Spring Women's Fleet Race hosted by Navy.

Tulane has never competed in the St. Mary's Open Team Race. This weekend the Wave will be one of 16 teams represented in the regatta. The teams Tulane will race against throughout the weekend will include Brown, College of Charleston, Cornell, Fordham, Georgetown, George Washington, Harvard, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Navy, Old Dominion, Penn, St. Mary's College, SUNY Maritime College, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and Yale. The regatta will be held on the St. Mary's River on Saturday and Sunday with races beginning at 9 a.m. CT.

The Green Wave will race among 18 total teams in the Navy Spring Women's Fleet Race on Saturday and Sunday. Including Tulane, ranked eighth in the latest poll, six teams ranked in the Sail1Design College Rankings top-16 poll will be competing in the weekend regatta. On Saturday and Sunday, the Wave will hit the waters of the Severn River to begin racing by 9 a.m. CT.

Following this weekend's action, the Green Wave will be on the road again for the Szambecki Open Team in Norfolk, Virginia, and the Jen Harris Women's Team Race back in Annapolis, Maryland, March 25-26.
