DALLAS, TX – #59 SMU won the doubles point and controlled most of the singles action to shutout Tulane's women's tennis program 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas.

The Mustangs improved to 8-5 with the win, while Tulane fell to 5-7.

The Green Wave challenged for the doubles point in the early going, as Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell picked up a 6-1 win at No. 1. The Mustangs' Taylor Johnson and Drew Morris then evened the proceedings with a 6-3 triumph at No. 2. Finally, the home team clinched the point when Hadley Doyle and Lana Mavor won 6-4 at No. 3.

Beforehand, the two teams agreed to stop the singles match once one team reached four points. SMU got there via victories at Nos. 2, 4 and 5. For Tulane, Yelamanchili won her first set at No. 1 and No. 6 Brooke Theis was up 6-3, 3-1 when the team match was halted.

The Green Wave returns to City Park Tennis Center next weekend when it hosts Gonzaga (Saturday) and Wichita State (Sunday) for a pair of noon matches.
