Green Wave Set for Ed Collins Spring Classic

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team is back in action this weekend for three matches at the Ed Collins Spring Classic in San Diego. The three-day tournament is being co-hosted by the University of San Diego and San Diego State University.
First up for the 35th-ranked Green Wave (9-5) is #36 VCU (11-3) Friday at 11 a.m. CT/9 a.m. PT in a contest scheduled for SDSU's Aztec Tennis Center. The Rams are coming off a defeat at the hands of #42 UTSA by the score of 4-2 in San Antonio on Sunday. Matisse Bobichon comes into the weekend ranked 88th nationally in singles, while his doubles pairing with Rayane Stable is 57th. The doubles team of brothers Charles and Maxence Bertimon is also 72nd.
Tulane is on fire of late, having won eight of its last nine on-court matches. Fynn Kuenkler, the Green Wave's top singles player, is ranked 80th nationally. The team also had its second straight American Athletic Conference Player of the Week in Luka Petrovic, who is the program's No. 2 singles player.
Petrovic (London, England) went 2-0 in singles and won his lone doubles match that was completed in a pair of wins last week. He was a 6-2, 7-5 winner and a 6-4 winner at No. 2 doubles in a 4-1 win over No. 15 Auburn. He followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in a 4-0 Green Wave win against Nicholls. He is now 8-3 in singles in the 2023.
