Green Wave Set for Five Duals at The March to May this Weekend

NEW ORLEANS – Riding a 10-match win streak, including a pair of ranked victories last weekend, No. 19 Tulane University Beach Volleyball will travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to play five dual matches in The March to May this weekend. The tournament will be hosted by UAB at the public beach in Gulf Shores Friday-Sunday.

The Green Wave will face No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 Loyola Marymount to open the weekend on Friday. On Saturday, the Wave will square off with the tournament UAB. Tulane will finish competition on Sunday against Mercer and No. 10 Georgia State.

Play will begin for Tulane with two ranked matches starting with the fourth-ranked Seminoles at 11 a.m. followed by No. LMU at 4 p.m. The Green Wave has never defeated Florida State or LMU holding an 0-15 record against the Seminoles and an 0-1 mark against the Lions. Tulane was swept 5-0 by both teams last season.

Saturday the Wave will play one match at 2 p.m. against the UAB Blazers. Tulane is 18-5 all-time against UAB including a three-match win streak. The Green Wave beat the Blazers twice last season winning 3-2 in the Tulane Classic and 3-2 in The March to May.

On Sunday, Tulane will conclude competition at The March to May with matches against Mercer at 10 a.m. and No. 10 Georgia State at 2 p.m. The Wave has won its last five meetings against the Mercer Bears to hold a 5-1 record in the series. The last time Tulane faced Mercer was in 2018 when the Green Wave won 5-0 at the Blazer Beach Duals. Tulane is 3-11 all-time against Georgia State after splitting two meetings last season. The Green Wave defeated the Panthers 3-2 in the Green Wave Invitational in February while Georgia State picked up the 4-1 victory at The March to May in March.

Tulane is coming off an undefeated 4-0 weekend at the Carolina Challenge which included two wins over ranked opponents, then No. 12 Stetson and No. 19 South Carolina. The last time the Green Wave defeated two ranked teams in the same weekend was at the Surf 'N' Turf Invitational in 2018 when it topped No. 18 FAU 3-2 and No. 12 FIU 3-2.

Following The March to May, Tulane will return home to host New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana for the Bayou Beach Duals Thursday, March 23.
