
Green Wave Drops Pair of Ranked Duals to Open March to May

GULF SHORES, Ala. – On a rough weather day Tulane University Beach Volleyball faced a pair of top-five opponents dropping its first match to No. 4 Florida State 3-0 and its second match of the day 3-0 to No. 5 Loyola Marymount. The defeats snapped a 10-match win streak for the Green Wave dropping its record to 10-3 on the season.

Against the fourth-ranked Seminoles, Tulane pushed Florida State in the first set. Mollie Ebertin and Kendall Peters teams up in position one to take their first set against Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff 21-19. However, the Wave was unable to keep up with the Seminole across the board as Tulane lost in straight sets in positions two, four, and five to fall 0-3 to open the weekend.

In the second dual of the day the Green Wave squared off against another top-five opponent in the fifth-ranked Lions from Loyola Marymount. Again, Tulane put up an early fight as Lara Torruella and Savka Popovic won the first set from position five 21-17 while Ebertin and Peters battled in a marathon first set to win 38-36. After the Lions were abe to pull ahead 2-0 with wins in positions four and two in straight set, Sara Hall and Maddie Speicher managed to force a third set in position two winning their second set 21-18. Unfortunately, the Wave was unable to capitalized as Loyola Marymount secured the match from position three giving Tulane its second 0-3 loss of the day.

Tulane will look to bounce back Saturday at the March to May as it will face UAB at 2 p.m.
