
Outdoor Track & Field Earns an Event Victory and 24 Top-10 Finishes at the Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, LA – Maren Butler won the women's shot put to highlight the action for the Tulane outdoor track and field program at the Louisiana Classics on Saturday at the Ragin' Cajun Track Complex. Tulane picked up a total of six top-three finishes, 24 top-10 placings and totaled six personal bests during the competition.
Butler's throw of 14.36m won the shot put. It was her first event victory of the year in either indoor or outdoor season.
Kara Steele placed second in the women's triple jump with her leap of 12.32m. Kaia Todd also placed in the top-10 in the event and finished seventh with a 10.76m.
Margot Temines earned third in the 100m hurdles with a 14.46. Laura Fodor (8th – 15.262) and Todd (9th – 15.265) both also placed in the top-10.
Alexis Esteves finished third in the 400m with a 1:00.11. Abigail Heck earned fourth with a 1:00.31, while Alyssa Taylor had a personal best of 1:00.36 to place sixth.
Kristina Leggas and Megan Fitzgerald both tied for third in the women's pole vault with a 3.27m each.
Olivia Hicks finished fourth in the high jump (1.51m).
Reese Ragland led a group of four Tulane women that placed in the top 10 in the 1500m. Ragland ran a 4:40.39 to finish fourth. She was followed by Macy Turcotte (7th – 4:43.13), Harper Shaw (8th – 4:45.29) and Alex Sharp (10th – 4:53.69).
Jon Lloyd finished sixth in the men's javelin with a 53.66m.
Zander Dunbar placed sixth in the men's 400m with a 50.46.
Francisco Roman III was the team's top finisher in the men's 100m with a personal record 11.61. He also set a personal best of 54.13 in the 400m and was the squad's top finisher in the shot put (10.55m). Tucker Poshard placed 13th in the men's 800m (2:00.28).
Temines placed ninth in the women's 200m with a 25.62. Tolu Ajayi was the school's top finisher in the women's 100m with a 13.02. Shaw led the team's 800m group by placing 12th with a 2:21.08.
Next, the program heads off to the Raleigh Relays from March 23-25.
