FINAL LEADERBOARD
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 60 Tulane finished fifth in the Florida State Match Up on Sunday afternoon.
Â
Tournament hosts No. 12 Florida State took the team title. Tulane finished behind No. 27 Kentucky and No. 38 Kent State and placed above No. 53 Purdue and No. 59 Oklahoma.
Â
"When you play against top teams on a championship-worthy golf course it's a real measure of how far your team has come," head coach Stew Burke said. "We're leaving Tallahassee disappointed that we couldn't capitalize on round one, but we put ourselves in position and were able to hang with the best in the country. Carla (Bernat), once again, showed why she's elite with the low round of the day by two shots.
"Ultimately, it is my job to make sure we are prepared for next week by cleaning up the errors and having a solid course plan in place for Hawaii. This team is building nicely as we aim to play our best golf in the postseason."
Â
Bernat, who is ranked eighth nationally, finished in second place for the second straight tournament, having shot two-under through the three rounds. Only the Seminoles' Charlotte Heath (seventh nationally)Â shot under par in the final round of play due to windy conditions.
Â
Cleo Liu finished in 15th with a total card ten-over par through the three rounds. Sandra Vazquez carded 16-over par to finish in 30th.
Â
Miriam Emmert rounded out the Tulane scorecard at 18-over par.
Â
Matilde Innocenti finished in 55th, while individual Carlota Palacios shot three-over in the third round to finish in 38th.
