
Tulane Wins Jen Harris Team Race, Finishes Fourth in the Szambecki Team Race

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Sailing picked up its second first place finish of the spring season landing atop the standing in the Jen Harris Team Race on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Green Wave coed team finished fourth in the Aaron Szambecki Team Race after all competition in Norfolk, Virginia was completed on Saturday.
The weather was much better in Annapolis, Maryland, for the second day of the Jen Harris Team Race. The Tulane women's team was able to complete eight races on Sunday, posting a 7-1 record on the day. The Wave finished the regatta with a 9-1 overall mark to finish first among the eight teams racing. Skippers Ciara Rodriguez-Horan, Caroline Benson, and Mia Hanes raced with crews Lydia Brown, Catherine Anderson, Abigail Borggaard, and Essie Clifton to earn two wins over Cornell and Penn and single victories against College of Charleston, Dartmouth, Georgetown, George Washington, and Navy.
In the Aaron Szambecki Team Race Tulane finished with an 8-6 record to land fourth among the 10 teams in the regatta. All racing for the regatta was completed on Saturday when the Wave defeated College of Charleston, South Florida, Fordham, and Tufts in the round robin before topping Fordham and Tufts again along with Roger Williams in the Top 6. The Green Wave was led by skippers Cameron Giblin, Thad Lettsome, and Asher Zittrer with crews Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez, Kit Stoll, Alex Makoid, Matheo Capasso, Gillian Perrell, and Brady Starck.
Up next, the Green Wave will host its second home regatta of the season in the Nelson Roltsch Open Team Race on Saturday and Sunday. Tulane will also compete in the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race this weekend in Providence, Rhode Island.
