
Tulane Wins Nelson Roltsch Open Team Race, Leads Dellenbaugh Women’s Team Race

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Sailing earned another first-place finish, rolling through the field in the Nelson Roltsch Open Team Race on Lake Pontchartrain. The Green Wave women's team is also on pace to finish at the top of the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race landing in first at the end of the first day of racing in Providence, Rhode Island.
In its second home regatta of the spring, Tulane claimed its third win of the spring, posting an 11-1 record on the water. Eleven different sailors got in on the action as the Green Wave outpaced Jacksonville for the top spot by one victory, going 4-0 in the second and third rounds. Tulane used skippers Quinn Keenan, Bobby Rielly, Joseph Solmo, Zander King, Matheo Capasso, Lucy Spearman, and Ashley Hoguet with crews Alex Makoid, Raquel Shulman, Ella May Corckran, and Brady Starck to earn three wins over Ecker, South Florida, and the Jacksonville women's team.
Meanwhile, in the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race, the Green Wave ended the opening day of racing in first place with an 8-1 record. Tulane holds the tiebreaker for the top spot over No. 3 Brown thanks to a head-to-head victory over the Bears. Skippers Caroline Benson, Mia Hanes, and Ciara Rodriguez-Horan teamed with crews Abigail Borggaard, Ellie Spearman, Essie Clifton, Lydia Brown, and Catherine Anderson to earn wins over No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Yale, No. 3 Brown, No. 4 Harvard, No. 5 Boston College, No. 6 Dartmouth, No. 15 Bowdoin, and South Florida.
The Tulane women's team will look to stay atop the standing of the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race and earn its second consecutive regatta victory as racing wraps up on Sunday. In New Orleans, the Green Wave will host a Nelson Roltsch Fleet Race scrimmage on Lake Pontchartrain Sunday.
