
Kristen O’Handley Breaks School Heptathlon Record at the Texas Relays on Thursday

AUSTIN, TX – Kristen O'Handley's school record Heptathlon performance highlighted the action for Tulane's Outdoor Track and Field program at the Texas Relays on Thursday at Michael A Myers Stadium. The Texas Relays were one of two meets that the program competed at on Thursday as part of the squad went to the Bobcat Invitational at the Texas State University Track and Field Complex in San Marcos.
O'Handley scored 5,652 points to place fifth overall among all 18 competitors in the Heptathlon. Her point total broke Migel Muraskaite's previous mark of 5,478 points that was achieved in 2021. Margot Temines placed fifth overall with 5,384 points.
Temines was the school's highest finisher in the Heptathlon long jump at ninth place with her leap of 5.75m (18'10.25"). O'Handley finished 11th in the event with a 5.67m (18'7.25"). Temines also led the team's effort in the javelin with her throw of 35.88m (117'8.00"). O'Handley finished 11th with a toss of 32.88m (107'10.00"). O'Handley placed sixth in the 800m to cement her overall fifth-place finish in the event with a time of 2:17.93. Temines earned 11th with a 2:30.15.
Mackenzie Callahan nearly broke the school's 3000m steeplechase record at the Texas Relays in running at 10:38.10. She placed fifth overall in the event and is now ranked second in the school's record book behind McKenzie Mellius.
Victoria Robinson placed 14th in the 800m with a 2:11.62.
At the Bobcat Invitational, Kaia Todd is currently fifth in the Heptathlon with 2,880 points. Todd finished third in the 100m hurdles (14.62), tied for seventh in the high jump (1.54m/5'0.75"), eighth in the shot put (10.80m/35'5.25") and 10th in the 200m (26.06). Patricija Ozolina ranks 12th in the Heptathlon with 2,582 points. She was 12th in the 100m hurdles (16.07), tied for seventh in the high jump (1.54m/5'0.75"), 10th in the shot put (10.80m/35'5.25") and 12th in the 200m (27.11). Laura Fodor is currently 15th in the Heptathlon with her 1,282 points. She tied for seventh in the high jump (1.54m/5'0.75") and placed sixth in the shot put (11.31m/37'1.25").
Maren Butler ranked 35th in the women's discus at the Bobcat Invitational with a 39.28m/128'10".
In the women's javelin Kara Schiek finished third with a throw of 42.26m (138'8"). The throw is personal record and currently ranks her ninth all-time in the Tulane record book. Her teammate Norah Bice earned 12th in the event with a toss of 34.83m (114'3"). On the men's side for the javelin, Matthew Remondet placed 13th overall with a 46.98m (154'2").
Next, the Green Wave track and field program continues competing with the third day of the Texas Relays on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m. in Austin, Texas. The program also participates in the second day of the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas beginning at 11 a.m.
