Tulane Travels to California for the Mustang Invitational

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Beach Volleyball (13-5) will hit the road to California this weekend to compete in the Mustang Invitational, hosted by Cal Poly, Saturday and Sunday in San Luis Obispo, California. The 20th-ranked Green Wave will face No. 13 Washington, Cal Poly, No. 9 Cal, and UC Davis.

Competition for the Wave is set to begin with a matchup against the 13th-ranked Huskies at 4:15 p.m. CT on Saturday. Tulane will follow that clash with a tilt against Cal Poly at 8:15 p.m. CT.

The Green Wave has never faced Washington but holds an 0-2 record in dual matches against Cal Poly. Both meetings between Tulane and the Mustangs finished with a final score of 4-1 in favor of Cal Poly. The Wave lost in 2019 at the Home2Suites Hilton-Tallahassee State Capitol Invitational and in 2018 at the Fight in the Fort in Fort Worth, Texas.

On Sunday, Tulane will continue play in the tournament against the ninth-ranked Cal Bears at 1:15 p.m. CT. Competition for the weekend will conclude for the Wave with a dual against the UC Davis Aggies at 3:45 p.m. CT.

Tulane has never played against UC Davis and lost its only meeting with Cal 0-5 at the Stanford Invitational in 2018.

Tulane is coming off a 2-0 performance in the Bayou Beach Duals hosted by the Wave last Thursday, March 23. The Green Wave swept through New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana recording 5-0 victories in both duals.

Following the Mustang Invitational, the Green Wave will head up the California coast to play in the Stanford Invitational. Tulane will square off against Saint Mary's and Stanford on Wednesday.
