Memphis Too Tough for Tulane
Mar 5, 2023 | Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's women's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to visiting Memphis Sunday afternoon at City Park Tennis Center.
Â
The Tigers advanced their record to 4-9, while the Green Wave dipped to 4-6.
Â
Tulane's Adelaide Lavery and Jiayun Zhu won the No. 2 doubles match 6-3, but Memphis took the 1 and 3 tilts for the overall team point.
Â
The two coaching staffs agreed beforehand to stop the singles proceedings once one team clinched the win. The Tigers did so by capturing the Nos. 2, 3 and 5 contests, but the Olive and Blue's Brooke Theis did manage a convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
Â
The Green Wave is back in action in the Dallas area next weekend as it visits North Texas Friday at 10 a.m. and SMU Sunday at 11.Â
