Tulane Travels East for the Carolina Challenge

Columbia, S.C. – Tulane University Beach Volleyball will play four dual matches in two days this weekend as it travels to Columbia, South Carolina, for the Carolina Challenge hosted by South Carolina Friday and Saturday.

The Green Wave will face UNC Wilmington, No. 12 Stetson, and Stephen F. Austin to open the weekend on Friday. On Saturday, the Wave will square off with the tournament host No. 19 South Carolina Gamecocks.

The weekend will begin Tulane squaring off against the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at 8 a.m. CT Friday. The Green Wave holds a 6-0 record against the Seahawks including winning the latest matchup 5-0 at the 2021 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championship.

Tulane will play 12th-ranked Stetson in its second match at noon CT on Friday. Tulane is 2-8 in 10 matchups against the Hatters but has not beaten Stetson since 2013 in the Pelican Classic.

The first day of play will finish for the Wave with a rematch from last weekend against Stephen F. Austin at 6 p.m. CT. Tulane defeated the Lumberjacks twice, 4-1 and 3-2, in the SFA Invitational last Friday.

On Saturday, the Green Wave will wrap up its weekend against the host school the 19th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The Wave beat South Carolina 3-2 in the CCSA Conference Tournament last season for its third win over the Gamecocks in 14 meetings.

Following the Carolina Challenge, Tulane will compete in the March to May in Gulf Shores, Alabama, March 17-19.
