Quarterfinal Matchup with Shockers Awaits Green Wave
Apr 20, 2023 | Men's Tennis
ORLANDO, Florida – Tulane's 43rd-ranked men's tennis team, the second seed in this week's American Athletic Conference Championships, will play seventh-seeded Wichita State in quarterfinal action Friday on the USTA National Campus in Orlando. The match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT (or shortly thereafter depending on the length of the match preceding it).
The Green Wave is 13-11 this season, while the Shockers are 11-15.
The two teams did not meet during the 2023 regular season. WSU won a 4-3 neutral site match last season at the Arizona State Invitational on March 11.
Tulane is coming off a 4-0 home loss to #37 Memphis Saturday in a match that was moved inside due to lightning in the area around the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans.
Friday's winner will receive the winner of the quarterfinal contest between third-seeded UCF and sixth-seeded USF in a contest that will be played Saturday.
The Olive and Blue's Rafael de Alba is 14-5 this season in singles, with an 11-4 mark at the No. 6 position.
Alejandro Jacome is on a three-match win streak for the Shockers and leads the team with 15 singles victories.
