Mackenzie Callahan’s School Record Leads Track & Field On the First Day of the Drake Relays

Des Moines, Iowa – Mackenzie Callahan's school record in the women's 3,000m steeplechase led Tulane's outdoor track and field program at Drake Stadium at the Drake Relays on Thursday. It was one of two school top-10 marks the program had on the team's opening day of competition.
Callahan ran a 10:24.50 to break Mckenzie Melius's previous school mark of 10:27.81 that was set in 2019. Callahan finished fifth overall in the event. Her mark currently places her second in the AAC in the 3,000m steeplechase. Her teammate Allison Nelson placed 26th with her 11:10.21.
Bradley Makuvire finished 16th overall in the 1500m with a 3:51.63. His time ranks him 10th all-time at Tulane in the event having topped Bill Hammarstrom's mark set in 1985.
Abigail Heck placed 11th in the women's 800m with her time of 2:13.20.
Danna Diaz ran a personal-best 4:30.71 in the women's 1500m to finish 15th.
Next, the Green Wave track and field program continues competing in the prestigious Drake Relays with the second day of action on Friday evening. The program will also send a group for the first day of the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Florida beginning on Friday morning.
