Kristen O’Handley Ranked Ninth In the Heptathlon Following First Day of Competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships

Austin, Texas – Kristen O'Handley is ranked ninth in the Heptathlon with 3,523 points following the first day of the event on Friday at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike Myers Stadium. She trails the leader of the competition by 317 points.
O'Handley's best performance of the evening came in her last event of the opening day as she placed second overall in the 200m with a 23.56. The mark was just off her personal-best in the event. She began the competition with a 14th place finish in the 100m hurdles with a 14.00. O'Handley placed eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.69m/5'6.50". She earned 13th in the shot put with a 12.29m/40'4". Her best throw came on her third attempt at the event.
The second day of the Heptathlon for O'Handley starts on Saturday at 4 p.m. with the long jump. O'Handley competes in the Flight 1 of the long jump. The final two events of the Heptathlon are the javelin at 5:15 p.m. and the 800m at 9:43 p.m. She competes in Flight 2 of the javelin and in a yet to be announced Flight for the 800m.
The top-eight finishers in the Heptathlon will secure First Team All-American honors. The next eight finishers earn Second Team All-American distinction.
