
Battle at the Beach Day One

On Friday September, 15th, four members of the Tulane men's tennis team traveled to Destin, Florida to compete at the Battle at the Beach Collegiate Invitational.
The Green Wave, being represented by freshman Hady Elkordy, junior Luc Hoeijmans, graduate student Benji Jacobson, and senior Fynn Kuenkler, competed in both singles and doubles today against representatives from Florida State and Middle Tennessee State.
In doubles, Jacobson and Hoeijmans faced off against Florida State's Azariah Rusher and Justin Lyon. Tulane's pair ended up losing the set to the Seminole's, 8-5.
The Green Wave's other set of doubles, which consisted of Elkory and Kuenkler, defeated Florida State's pair, Jamie Connel Carson Cerejo, 8-5. This marked Elkordy's first win as a Green Wave.
In singles, Kuenkler was defeated by MTSU's Shu Matsrohu, 6-4 and 6-1.
Hoejimans picked up a win in singles against MTSU's Karim Al-Amin. He defeated him in the first set, 7-6, lost the second set, 3-6, and took home the third set 6-3.
Jacobson and Elkordy lost their singles matches, 6-1 and 6-4. Jacobson competed against MTSU's Kristian Thomas and Elkordy took on MTSU's Igor Mandou.
The Green Wave will be back in action on Saturday for the second day of the Battle at the Beach.
